The problem with the concept of a leftist revolution is that far too much of the left's support base is too lazy, weak and unmotivated to enact it, and lack the tenacity and long-term vision to maintain it. Can you imagine the attendees at the Otara fleamarket or the whimpering Peter Pan bitches on punkas.com staging a serious revolt?
The common thread among governments, dictatorships and other ruling entities since time immemorial on all sides of the spectrum is that power only comes to those motivated enough to seize it and savvy enough to use it not lose it.
